The InterCHANGE Study Overview

Our overall objective is to understand the role of lifestyle factors, genetics and HPV infection in the development and prognosis of head and neck cancer particularly in Asia.

Our specific aims are to:

  1. Investigate why the head and neck cancer incidence is low in East Asia by understanding the major risk and protective factors in the Chinese population, including diet, green tea drinking, herbal supplemental intake and HPV infection
  2. Study the genetic susceptibility to head and neck cancer in the East Asian population
  3. Understand the prognostic factors for head and neck cancers in East Asia, including a combination of lifestyle factors, genetics and HPV infection.
